[Campus Legends S4] Valorant Group A Standings

Group A of Campus Legends has concluded after two intense weekends of games, with only four teams advancing to the next stage of the tournament: Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) KDE, National University of Singapore’s (NUS) no.men, Singapore Management University’s (SMU) ZoomBoomPow and Nanyang Technological University’s (NTU) Weekend Squad. Let’s take a look at how each team that qualified has performed thus far.

SP / KDE

Leading the pack is the SP line-up, who ended the group with an impressive 4-0 record. Led by Akaththiyan “BigBlackCod” Ienin, KDE has been nigh unstoppable, taking down all challengers without a single game loss.

Of note were their matches against NUS representatives no.men. Every game was nail-bitingly close, but KDE proved to be the better team on both occasions, with their final game culminating in a 17 – 15 tiebreaker in their favour.

Should they continue to maintain this dominant form, KDE look like strong contenders to claim the championship.

NUS / no.men

Having qualified to the Playoffs of the Valorant Champions Tour: Malaysia & Singapore Stage 1 Challengers, NUS representatives no.men looked to be strong contenders to win it all. Expectations were high for the star-studded line-up so it came as a surprise when they stumbled against SP and were relegated to the lower bracket.

However, their loss reinvigorated them, and no.men easily took three games straight to stake their claim in the next round. In the finals of Group A, no.men were still unable to figure out SP and incurred another loss against them. Should they manage to shake off these defeats and repeat everything that piloted them to success in the lower bracket, the veteran squad have a solid shot at bringing home the glory for NUS.

SMU / ZoomBoomPow

Despite playing with substitute Stanley “foxcle” Cheong, SMU representatives ZoomBoomPow showed that they were here to play, especially during their Week 1 matches. Stellar performances by Darren “DeCapitate” Chua on Jett allowed them to claim two consecutive wins against ITE CC and NTU to secure their spot in the top four.

However, they were handed their first loss by SP in Week 2, dropping into the lower bracket where they fell to the veteran NUS squad. If ZoomBoomPow wish to continue advancing, they need to keep their eyes on the prize and perform as consistently as they did in the first week.

NTU / Weekend Squad

Weekend Squad did not have the strongest of showings in their group. Though they were able to secure convincing wins over NYP and TP with unconventional strategies and strong performances by Kevin “Kerveen” Lee, they crumbled in the face of stronger opponents like NUS and SMU.

The team will need to figure out their competition and remain confident in their own play if they are aiming to become champions.
