In case you missed it: Campus Legends 2021 Week 5 (Group A)!

Missed all the action over the weekend? Don’t worry, we’ve got your covered with a summary of all the exciting matches!

Match 1:

NYP: Sylas, Jarvan IV, Azir, Kai’Sa, Leona

TP: Volibear, Hecarim, Karma, Samira, Alistar

TP drafted a short-ranged composition with Samira, Volibear and Alistar, which might have prompted NYP to go with the Azir pick which can out-range them. NYP got the first few picks but made mistakes like diving in too deep, resulting in both teams on even footing once again. However, NYP’s Kai’Sa got fed much earlier than TP’s Samira. Good rotations allowed NYP to extend their lead and win the game eventually.

Match 2:

Kaplan: Volibear, Nocturne, Viktor, Kai’Sa, Seraphine

ITE CC: Shen, Kayn, Ekko, Ezreal, Braum

ITE CC’s Kayn was constantly invading Kaplan’s jungle, increasing the CS lead between their Kayn and Kaplan’s Nocturne. Despite so, both teams were relatively even until Kaplan tried to engage but ITE CC managed to turn it around by making good use of map space to buy time for backup to arrive, pulling ahead of Kaplan to win the match.

Match 3:

NP: Sett, Gwen, Qiyana, Ezreal, Thresh

SP: Camille, Diana, Renekton, Caitlyn, Senna

SP had a rather squishy team composition which made them vulnerable to Qiyana’s potential to burst down the squishier members. SP might have chosen Renekton to counter the Qiyana pick by winning the lane early on and hopefully stop her from snowballing. However, NP managed to roll through SP’s top lane in one go, exposing their base and giving them map advantage. SP wasn’t able to stop the Qiyana and NP took the win.

Match 1 Game 1:

ITE CC: Jawhead, Harley, Selena, Paquito, Lancelot

SIT: X.Borg, Lylia, Ruby, Brody, Minotaur

Match 1 Game 2:

ITE CC: Yve, Balmond, Granger, Ling, Khufra

SIT: Jawhead, X.Borg, Lylia, Gloo, Brody

ITE CC had an early burst composition with the classic Selena and Jawhead combo. They successfully invaded SIT’s jungle, taking the early advantage. SIT had to rely on Minotaur to take team fights with his ultimate but ITE CC kept getting good ejectors and stuns on SIT’s Brody and backline, allowing them to snowball hard to take the first game. In the second game, ITE CC invaded SIT’s jungle once again, taking away their purple buff. ITE CC managed to take a lot of space with the help of Yve and punish SIT whenever they try to force fights, breaking SIT’s winning streak once and for all.

Match 2 Game 1:

ITE CE: Eudora, Esmeralda, Tigreal, Roger, Jawhead

NP: Kaja, Mathilda, Benedetta, Granger, Hayabusa

Match 2 Game 2:

ITE CE: Paquito, Alice, Lunox, Khufra, Claude

NP: Mathilda, Selena, Harley, Gloo, Yi Sun Shin

NP start off with a slight advantage by getting more picks than ITE CE but there was still a chance for ITE CE to come back if their Eudora got fed enough to burst down NP. However, ITE CE overextended quite frequently and seemed lost when trying to take team fights. NP’s Granger also hit his power spike in the mid game, giving NP the win for the first game. In the second game, ITE CE drafted a late game composition with Alice, putting pressure on NP to end the game quickly before Alice came online, which was exactly what they did. NP got early picks again to start their snowball, winning the game in just under 12 minutes.

Match 3 Game 1:

SMU: Kaja, Khufra, Masha, Vale, Granger

TP: Lunox, Nana, Martis, Yi Sun Shin, Lapu-Lapu

Match 3 Game 2:

SMU: Harley, Ruby, Khufra, Lunox, Saber

TP: Grock, Benedetta, Layla, Minotaur, Guinevere

TP drafted an untraditional team composition with Nana and Martis but it didn’t seem to hinder them at all. They got the early advantage by catching off SMU’s Granger during a Turtle fight and proceeded to snowball their way to the first game win. In the second game, TP once again pulled out an unusual team composition with heroes like Layla. However, the spotlight was on the Minotaur and Guinevere, who coordinated fight-winning ultimates, as well as the Grock who got the most kills on the team. SMU was unable to burst down TP’s tanky frontline, resulting in TP comfortably taking the series win.
